Sabre-Tooth (1967)

Sabre-Tooth (1967)

Paperback Flash comes alive with perhaps my favorite cover painting of all my hundreds and hundreds of paperbacks. This image is by Robert McGinnis, for my money the best artist ever to paint a lurid paperback scene.

Pictured here is THE NAILER, the topless finishing move of Modesty Blaise, the newspaper cartoon cum-paperback sensation sexy crimefighter. John Travolta was reading a Modesty Blaise book in the bathroom right before getting killed in Pulp Fiction, and had it been this Modesty Blaise book, I’m fairly certain I can guess what he was doing in there.

Click through the link to check out my Flickr gallery for plenty of other lurid surprises.
