Brak: When the Idols Walked (1978)

Brak: When the Idols Walked (1978)

The Brak Attack continues! Pictured above is the other Pocket Books Brak novel I own. The barely-covered nude chick motif is still in strong effect, but in this case a broken statue has been swapped out for the proto-Dewback on the earlier cover.

In general I think paperback book cover design took a huge nosedive in quality in the 1980s, and you can start to see a hint of the 80s color palette coming into play here near the end of the 1970s.

Still, you won’t believe how ugly Brak’s books got in the 80s. I’ll reveal that monstrosity tomorrow.

After that I’ve got a host of new stuff, including more Conan clones like Kyrik and Sagard, weird viking heroes, and a mysterious book that pits its hero against “the dark forces of the Feroonian continent!”

Feel the thunder!
